User Reviews about Plastic Comb Binding Machine
This product will perform well for small jobs. It is very eacy to use and performed as described by the manufacturer. It is for small jobs where you have the time to compile your documents.
If you are looking for a high volume machine you will need a higher level machine. Overall this one works for me and I would recommend it highly. -- sv3/15/08
I had tested several products of this type at the major office supply stores and found that the quality of the products I tested were not as good as the one I purchased from Amazon they were in excess of $100.00 more in cost.
When I received the shipment from Amazon, within days of placing the order, I immediately used it to bind 400, 75 page booklets without any adverse incidents and was greatly pleased with the quality and ease of performance. -- Fellows Plastic Comb Binding Maching
We bought this binder for light duty (binding family calendars at Christmas). It is easy to use and does an excellent job of punching and then spreading the combs for binding. Note that it will only accommodate combs up to 7/8" in diameter. You should be aware that it is very quiet when punching one or two sheets and gets louder the more sheets you try to punch at one time. If you punch 6 sheets at a time, it makes a terrifying sound as if the machine is going to pieces - however, despite the loud noise it works perfectly well. -- Excellent value for the price
If you are looking to bind you work or reports or books you have made this is an excellent solution. I used it to bind a 36 page math book I made. It is a good way to keep your work organized. You will have something to refer to and read. My first math booklet I made was 100 some pages and cost me $147 at Fed Ex Kinko's to print and bind. I could have done it myself for a fraction of the price.
There is one draw back though. I don't think you are going to be mass producing booklets with this machine. You would need an expensive, electronic binding machine for that. I put 7 pages at a time in the hole punch and almost broke the machine. It says it can punch 9 pages of 20lb paper, but I think it is more around 3. Also threading the comb isn't to difficult (a little tricky with small combs), but again difficult to mass produce.
I give it 5 stars, however. It still does the job only on a smaller scale. And it is invaluable to have such a tool at home. -- Great for Small Booklets
Purchased this unit for small business duty as it was the cheapest way to get into binding (vs coil, thermal, velobind, tape, GBC Proclick) and worked with very inexpensive disposables. While this unit is obviously not suited to high volume work: 9-pages per punch (really more like 7) means far too many steps to create a large binding. It is fully functional, easy to use, and has proved quite durable (despite feeling somewhat lighter and more fragile than expected) -- having survived weeks of use by temps and my own ham-handed efforts. While this is an inexpensive machine (mostly plastic and light enough to require a steadying hand when punching more than two or three pages)it has obviously been designed with actual use in mind. Highly recommended for the cost conscious. -- Solid, Economical Performance.
