User Reviews about GBC CombBind C110 Binding Machine (7704240)
Love this binder. The price is GREAT! I put together over 40 books the first week of owning it. Be careful when aligning the paper to be punched, it has to exactly straight. Always double check alignment before pulling the handle to punch the holes, otherwise you may be making another copy of that page or pages. :o) -- GBC CombBind C110
I was on the lookout for a binding machine to have at home to make it easier to make booklets and bind projects for my students. I created my own Reader's Notebooks for my students for next year and quickly realized purchasing my own binding machine would be much cheaper than having them bound at Office Max or FedEx Office. I happened upon this machine in a store and went right home and look it up on Amazon. It was almost $100 cheaper than in the store and even with the free shipping, it arrived within a few days. It was ready to use right out of the box with very little direction needed. Despite being a teacher I've never used a binding machine before (I've been spoiled and always had volunteers do any binding I needed) and I was punching holes and binding within moments of having it out of the box. It will bind up to 15 sheets at once and it makes binding larger projects a breeze. The guides on the side for the paper and along the comb holder make it very easy to use, even if you've never done it before. This was definitely one of the best purchases I've made recently that I know will be put to a lot of good use with my classroom. -- Best Purchase Ever
I pondered considerably over the purchase of this item. I had very little money to spend and I knew nothing about binding. The exact same item, at a more attractive color, was available at other online stores; but Amazon's free shipping, and most importantly, its reviews and item information made the difference. The equipment is so easy to use that I consider binding anything and everything. It's adjustable paper size feature (letter, legal, or over size), and ease of transition from paper hole punching to binding enables one to bind alot of paper with very little effort and energy. I binded 6 (30 page each) court booklets with ease. The recommended 1/2 size comb is very good for binding booklets less then 85 sheets. For larger booklets, simply purcahse bigger combs for use with the equipment. It is a very good investment, especially for one with very little money to spend. -- Very Good Purchase
I use to send out my completed appellate briefs to be printed and bound because I did not have a binding solution. Not anymore. With this GBC unit, binding is easy. I was binding within 2 minutes of having the machine out of the box. The instructions could have been more clear on how to correctly insert the comb into the machine. After about 30 seconds to sort it out, though, I was binding my first volume. Many, many more have followed. There haven't been any problems at all.
Before I bought the comb binder, I seriously considered a Velobinder. Even though lawyers in my area commonly use combs, I was concerned about the possibility of a comb coming undone in the hands of a judge. That worry, though, was unfounded. It is important, though, to choose the correct size comb.
A couple of notes: One can punch up to 15 pages at a time. However, I found with the 26 pound stock I use, 10 pages was about the limit for relatively effortless punching. Next, the more you bind, the easier it gets. In the beginning, it was mildly tricky to line up the comb with the holes. After binding a few volumes, though, it becomes easy and quick. Finally, there are many styles of covers available from paper to plastic in different colors and thicknesses. I have been using clear covers with great success. My output looks exactly like the copies I would pay hundreds of dollars to have Staples or Kinko's complete.
This product does exactly what it is supposed to do and does it well. Highly recommended. -- A Law Office Must Have
The product makes really great binders! The hole punch is obvious, how to use but putting the comb on is not as apparent. The directions included are HORRIBLE! The process to put the comb on is well designed and engineered and works quite well... Once you take the time of figure it out and practice. All it would take to fix this problem is some illustrations and close ups but the existing directions are not helpful. -- Great Product, Horrible Directions
